Meet the Partners – Sendekem Incorporated
MJ Blais founded Sendekem to give companies and families something he rarely saw in the security industry: an honest assessment from someone with nothing to sell. He has spent more than 30 years protecting people.
MJ is a Navy SEAL veteran. He has also supported protective details for heads of state, including the President of the United States. That work taught him how protection fails: rarely at the moment of an attack, and usually in the small gaps that come before it.
As a detective with the Anaheim Police Department, MJ worked high-risk warrants, narcotics, and auto theft, served as a terrorism liaison, and was a member of the Special Tactics Detail. Today he is a Licensed Private Investigator who brings behavioral psychology and sociology to the study of how threats take shape.
An Eagle Scout and proud Navy veteran, MJ volunteers with charities that support veterans. Away from work, he reads, travels, and spends time with his family.
Kirk Southwell is Sendekem’s Senior Vice President and Creative Director. He designs and prepares every report for delivery, so the findings read as clearly as they were reached.
From his early days of surfing and creating “Psychedelic” lithograph posters for well-known sixties and seventies rock bands in San Francisco. Kirk has taught art at several leading colleges. He is a recognized artistic force in the Bay Area. In addition to the many accolades Kirk has received from large companies like Wells Fargo for his creative work, he has also created dozens of successful campaigns for businesses and organizations.
Kirk started out in San Francisco, surfing and designing psychedelic lithograph posters for several well-known rock bands. He has taught art at several colleges, earned recognition from companies such Wells Fargo, and created dozens of campaigns for businesses and organizations.
A veteran of the U.S. Army Airborne, Kirk cares deeply about personal freedom, equality, and inclusion. He restores mid-century antiques and spends his free time with family and a close group of friends.

Yvonne has been a partner since 2018. She came to Sendekem from international business and corporate banking, with Standard Chartered Bank in the United Kingdom and OCBC Bank in Singapore
As Treasurer and Senior Vice President, Yvonne oversees administration and finance. She also leads client intake, including the confidential questionnaires that begin every assessment.
Born in Penang, Malaysia, Yvonne now lives in Dallas. She supports the SPCA of Texas and organizations that advance Asian women in business.
She speaks several languages, has traveled widely, and enjoys art, cooking, shopping, and time with her family, including her rescue dogs: Hudson, and Scully.

Matthew Budds is a partner and Senior Vice President. He conducts the open-source research behind each assessment and independently reviews every report before it goes to a client. As a police detective, he worked some of the most underserved areas of Los Angeles and Orange Counties. A recognized expert in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), he helped develop municipal venues for cities including Anaheim. |
A husband, father, and man of faith, Matt also writes and produces family-friendly films that bring hopeful stories to the screen.
